Adding a Work Package Manager

Adding a Work Package Manager

A Work Package manager is an operator of the Hub who has been granted elevated permissions within a Work Package.

This enables Administration type tasks to be delegated within the confines of a Work Package. This assignment as a Work Package Manager works in tandem with the overall privileges granted by the Memberships roles of 'Admin', 'User' and 'Assessor'.

General summary of abilities

A Work Package Manager can:

  • See a Work Package where they are assigned as Manager, even if not working on that Work Package

  • Edit all details in a Work Package like an Admin can

  • Add staff into the Work Package from the pool of members already registered

  • Change the Inspection type (if Work Package not activated)

  • Assign inspections amongst staff (usual caveat about having ensured ALL data is synced beforehand)

  • Create new Inspections from Drawings

  • Cancel / Uncancel / Archive / Unarchive / Export inspections.

A Work Package Manager cannot:

  • Create a new Work Package (unless also an Admin)

  • Duplicate a Work Package (unless also an Admin, or User role)

  • Activate / Archive a Work Package (unless also an Admin or User)

Use Case

You have staff that you want to be able to self-manage within a Work Package, but you don't want them to be able to create a new Work Package, as these represent Sites and Job that are approved to start:

  1. Under 'Members' > Make your end-users 'Assessor' role, saving each one individually.

    1. This gives them no abilities outside a Work Package.

  2. Add the staff who are doing field work as 'Staff on Work Package'

  3. Add staff who you want to Administer / have elevated privileges as 'Work Package Managers'

    1. These can be the same as the staff doing field work

You now have staff who cannot create / duplicate or activate Work Packages, but who can assign and create work within the Work Package.

They can also delegate and add other Work Package Managers.

How to add a Manager to a Work Package

This can only be done by Organisation Admins, and within a Work Package by an existing assigned Work Package Manager.

  1. Edit the Work Package

  1. Click on 'Save Work Package'

Your changes are saved and the Work Package will appear in the Hub for that user if they could not see it before.

Note that this does not affect access via the App, which is governed by the 'Staff on Work Package' selections.
