Editable lists

Some lists in your inspections can be made editable, so you can add new list items, retire old list items, and re-order what your users see in drop down lists in the Hub and App.

Making a list editable is done for you by Clarinspect, but from that point onwards you can add items, reorder the list, and remove unused list items.

Email support@clarinspect.com with the inspection types you want updated and we will review them for you and discuss what can be done.

For Administrators and Work package Managers

There is a Lists tab on the Work Package for Admins and Work Package Managers.

The Editable Lists column consists of all lists marked as editable on all inspection types on this Work Package.

If there are two lists with the same list name, the list items you will see here will come from the list on the most recently edited inspection type.

A list marked in blue has been edited.  All inspection types on this Work Package that use the list will show items from this list, rather than its own list

Click on a list to edit it.

Add New List Item

To add a new item to a list simply go to that list.

Select EDIT

Type the new item to the list in the box at the bottom, then click ADD.

Re-Order the List

To change the order of the list, select the list. Click on the three line image next to your list item

Click and drag the item to the place you would like it be.

Hide a list item

As someone may have added a list item you no longer want to use, we do not remove it, we will hide it so it can not be selected again.

To hide a list item you go to the list item. Then untick the blue tick that is on the right it.

The list items are shown with a trash can if they have been added, so you can then delete them from the edited version.

List items that came from the original list on the inspection type can be hidden (untick them).

You can:

  • Add new list items

  • Re-order the list items

  • Choose to show or hide a list item

If a list item has a typo, then you can retire it, and add a new one, or Clarinspect can fix the typo in the original list on the inspection type.

Should you wish to retire an edited list and have each inspection type go back to using its own list, you can Remove all Edits for the selected list.

Adding and removing list items, or changing whether a list item in the list is shown or hidden only affects this current Work Package. Any changes do not affect existing data.

If a select field has no list items (an empty list) then the field is not displayed. You can use this to remove drop down fields from an Inspection Type

Lists with Alternate Text

Some lists have an alternate text loaded - this means that the text seen in the app is not the text that enters the report. When you are editing a list with alternate text you need to add both parts in.  The alternate text which enters the report can be edited independently of the list item.
