Marking Up Images on the Hub

Marking Up Images on the Hub

Any markups which have been done to images or site plans, either in the app or on the hub can be viewed and edited in the hub. This allows you to do some markups quickly in the app, then clean them up later on the hub.

Viewing Markups

If the inspection is not in edit mode you can open the image and click view to see the details of the markup.

Editing or moving won't be possible.  Click on a markup to select it and see its details.

Adding or Editing Markups

If you are working from the hub and want to add or edit any markups you must click the EDIT button at the top of the inspection.

You will then be in edit mode and the ‘Edit’ button will appear next to any images.

Adding a New Markup

Select from the add annotation dropdown.  A new markup will be placed on the background and selected, ready for you to edit and move it to suit.

If you have selected a text balloon you will be prompted to put some text in before it appears on the image.

Just like in the app, if you have an existing markup selected, the colours and styles will be copied from it when you add a new one.

NOTE: It's not possible to add freestyle from the hub.  For that you'll need the app. Use the lines instead.

Editing Markups

To edit something, click on it.  One markup should be selected at a time.  Depending on the type of markup, and where you click, one or both of the shapes' drag points will become visible as green highlights.

Move

To move a shape, make sure that all drag points are shown.  Each shape has two drag points on opposing sides of the shape so if both are showing you will be able to move it.

A shape cannot be moved off the background image, but it can be dragged out of view if you have zoomed in.  Use the scroll bars to find it again.

NOTE: For a rectangle, the drag points for moving are selected by clicking on the left hand vertical side.

Resize

To resize a shape make sure only one drag point is showing.  To select a drag point and unselect all others you need to click directly on it.  Click on the shape first to see where they are, then click on the one you want.

NOTE: Freestyle cannot be resized.  Clicking on a drag point will not unselect the other one.

Remove

Select the shape you want to remove.  A red delete button will be visible in the panel on the right.  Click it to remove the shape, but take note that you will not be able to restore a removed freestyle shape.

Editing Text Balloons

Move

A balloon cannot be selected in its entirety.  To move a balloon you will need to move each end of it independently.  Follow the guidelines on moving shapes above.

Text

With the balloon selected, alter the value of the text.

If you update the text of a linked field (for example the penetration reference or the sample number), this will also update on the associated form.

NOTE: Enter key will not save text changes. Click out of the text balloon to save.

Remove

Select the balloon you want to remove.  A red delete button will be visible in the panel on the right. Click it to remove the balloon.  This also removes any links that the balloon might have had to a feature.

Saving your changes

Once you have finished editing markups, click the Close button in the top right of the editor.  The editor will save and close, and a new markup overlay will be generated and be applied on top of the field (this may take a second or two).

These changes have been made to the image.  You also need to save the inspection as well to keep these changes.

NOTE: The 'Zoom' on the Edit markups screen is only for giving you a more detailed view. It does not affect the cropping of the image - which the '+' and '-' image zoom buttons on the Main inspection form do.

Cropping the Image

If you would like to crop your image then just zoom in and use the scroll bars to get the view of the image you would like.  Press ‘Crop to current view’.  You can press ‘Remove crop’ to go back to the full image.

Text Balloons - Linked Forms

For linked balloons there is a relationship with a matching sub form.

If you update the balloon text value, this change can be seen in the linked sub form and any linked field (e.g. sample number or penetration reference) so that it is updated to reflect the new value.

Conversely updating the dependent fields on the form (with the markup editor closed) will have the effect of updating the balloon.  This also updates the markups for you to save the inspection and commit these changes permanently.
