Open Camera - Useful Features

Open Camera from Mark Harman is a very useful camera App for Android. By using ‘Open Camera’ you will not fill up your photo gallery on your phone.

Useful Settings:

  1. Go to the ‘Settings’ cog here within ‘Open Camera’

  2.  Select ‘Photo settings…’


Camera Resolution

It is important to set the resolution as follows. This gives a nice ratio for photos appearing in reports, and also prevents photos being too heavy on data.


Within Photo settings…

  1. Tap on ‘Camera resolution’
  2. A ratio of 4:3 and a size under 2MP is usually adequate, however this may vary depending on the quality of photos your company requires.

Stamping Photos

You can use Open Camera to stamp your photos with:

  • Date

  • Time

  • GPS 

  • Custom text

  1. Go to ‘Photo settings’ (as above)
  2. Scroll down to ‘Stamp photos’
  3. Select the types of stamp you want and select the format, or enter custom text
  4. Press ‘Stamp photos’ and choose either ‘Stamp’ or ‘No stamp’ (if you do not choose ‘Stamp photos’ the options you have chosen will not show up).
