Getting Started with Clarinspect on Andriod

This document is intended to walk you through how to install the Clarinspect Mobile App, login and view your work.

The system is composed of an App on your Android tablet or phone, and the Clarinspect Hub (a website) which coordinates the synchronisation of data and the dispatch of work.

In order to install the App you will need:

  • Your tablet or phone

  • Your Clarinspect credentials (username and password)



We recommend you install the App from the Google Play Store in order to receive automatic updates.

Step 1: Install the App from Google Play on your device



  1. Click on ‘Playstore’


  1. Type ‘Clarinspect’ in the search bar and click ‘Install’


  1. Open the Clarinspect App


  1. Sign in using the credentials you used when registering.

Step 2: Check Auto-update is enabled for Clarinspect on Google Play


  1. In the Google Play Store under Clarinspect


  1. Check the ‘Enable auto-update’ box

Please note: Even when this is on, if conditions are not right when the system goes to update, it may not update. If the “Last updated” date in the Settings tab is longer than 2 months ago. Go check in the Play Store for an update.

Step 3: Allow battery use (Settings screen may differ, depending on device)

If you are finding that you are having difficulty syncing when the app is closed or device is locked, then you might need to change your battery/power settings as follows. 


Step 4: These apps are also useful to install from Google Play

Splashtop SOS - Remote Support

Made by Splashtop.
Allows remote support over the internet. With this installed we can access your device once approved for improved support.
Go to sos.splashtop.com, or look in the playstore.

GBoard

Made by Google.
A slick keyboard App from Google that has an impressive voice to text for speedier
data entry.

Open Camera

Great free camera app that allows you to put date/time/gps stamps on photos. Once installed Clarinspect will automatically use it. Made by Mark Harman. Please read our ‘Open Camera - Useful Features’ user guide for more information.

Step 6: Start working

Open the App

Open the App and use the same log in details you created when you registered with Clarinspect.

Sync your device

After you sync, ‘work packages’ that have been assigned to you will be listed on the app.
Work you have done will sync in the background if you allow mobile data use, depending on your selection in the settings. Synchronise as often as possible.

Start an inspection

Click the + sign to start an inspection.

Complete Inspection

When you have filled in the inspection, use the menu in the top right to choose 'Complete'.

This will check all mandatory fields have been entered, and then queue the inspection for syncing back to the Hub.

If you want to edit it on the Hub, then you can choose 'Return to Hub' which queues it for sending without checking. Please read our “Returning Work  to Hub” user guide for more information


Sync Rules

Inspections that are complete or have been returned to hub cannot be edited whilst they are syncing.

Items syncing have a sync icon. 

Work that has been queued for syncing will wait until a network is available (wifi, or mobile data)

Working from the Site Plan


With Clarinspect you can work directly from the Site Plan.  Please read our Working from Site Plans on the App user guide for detailed information.

Top Tips

  1. Never add an emoji as part of your data!

  2. When you take your first photo, set ‘Open Camera’ as the default (only prompted for Android 10 or lower).

  3. * on the form represents a mandatory field

  4. Complete an inspection.

When you have filled in all the fields, tap the menu in the top right of the inspection form, and choose the option 'Complete'. This will validate the form, and if all mandatory fields are filled in, the inspection will be marked as completed.

Once a completed inspection is received at the Hub, a report will be started.


  1. Return an inspection to the Hub.

Tap the menu in the top right of the inspection form, and choose the option 'Validate', then once you have filled in all fields you can, use the same menu, but choose the option 'Return to Hub'. This will synchronise your changes back to the Hub so someone else can edit or work on the inspection.

6. Check the Settings tab in the app every now and then. If the “Last updated” date at the top was longer than 2 months ago then you probably need to update the app. Go to the Play Store, search for Clarinspect and tap Update. We regularly update our app to improve its functionality so it's best to be on the latest version

Troubleshooting

Downloads not working (Xiaomi phones)

  1. Open Settings -> Installed apps
  2. Choose your application
  3. Switch on autostart
  4. Switch off any battery saver restrictions
  5. Restart the phone

It may take a few restarts for the phone to get the message…
