Using a Master Work Package

Using a Master Work Package

Clients are encouraged to make a ‘master’ template work package which has all their desired settings, common data, list edits etc. This can then be duplicated each time they create a new work package, to avoid repeating this process. This will save time, and help with consistency across projects.

To set up a MASTER work package, follow the steps required to set up a new work package.

  1. Name it something obvious so you can find it easily eg **MASTER FOR DUPLICATING**

  2. Add general description if desired

  3. Add the inspection type(s) that will be used for this work package.

  4. Staffing - add any staff who will be common across all work packages of this type.

  5. Enable Sequences if using. See Using Sequences for more information.

  6. Add Drawing Sets you want to be available across all work packages of this type.

Then click ‘Create New Work Package’.

You may wish to add common Work Package Data into your Master Work Package. This can only be done once the Inspection Type(s) has been added and saved.

See Set up a Work Package for your Project for more information on creating a Work Package.

Once you have a MASTER work package set up, you can duplicate it at will, using the Green DUPLICATE button to quickly produce more work packages.

Change the name of the work package, edit any other settings as desired, then click ‘Create New Work Package’.

You’ll see a green message bar which will confirm duplication.

Once you have saved your new work package, it is ready to go. The new work package can be found under ‘Draft’ mode if not ‘Activated’. Remember to Activate it before it can be used in the field.

Things to note:

  • When duplicating a Work Package, the new Work Package will only include staff who are active (on the original Work Package) and members of the organisation.

  • All the lists will come over too.
