Saving Images out of Clarinspect

Saving Images out of Clarinspect

Any images displayed are representative only and may differ depending on the version being used.

Clarinspect Image files can be saved to external locations on your device e.g. your device photo gallery or  SD cards .  These are locations where you can use other apps to view or edit these images.

Saving individual photos from android

In Clarinspect locate the image in the inspection, and tap to open it.

From the image menu in the top right corner, select 'Save image'.  The image is saved to your default pictures location, and will be accessible through your image gallery app (it might take a few minutes to show up there).  This image can be loaded into another inspection field - see the section below for how to do this. This is handy when you want to use the same image in many places in the app.

Note: This only saves the background image and not any annotations

Save All from Android

Select a folder

Open the Settings tab in the app.

Tap on Image Settings

  1. Tap to select a location to copy photos

  2. No location set when switch is off

Tap the External photo storage setting to set a location, or set the switch to On.  The location selector will open.

  1. Make sure your SD card is selected or wherever you would like the images saved to.

  1. If not, use the hamburger (three horizontal lines) menu in the top left to select it.

Once selected, create a folder for

Clarinspect to use.

  1. Tap here to create a 'Clarinspect' folder on the SD card

  2. Name folder, then tap ‘OK’

After creating the folder, tap on it,

to make sure the folder is open and

then tap 'Use this folder'.

You may be prompted to grant access.  If so tap 'Allow'

Your selected folder will be saved into the Settings.  Any photos you take while using Clarinspect will be copied into this folder.  You can change or turn off this setting at any time.

  1. Tap to see selected location or set a different location

  2. Switch is on to indicate you have selected a location

  3. Set switch to off to clear the location

You can use your Gallery app to access these photos, and make edits to them if needed.  Note however that these are copies of the original photos stored within Clarinspect, so any changes you make will not be reflected in the inspection they have been copied from.  If you want these changes added to the inspection you'll need to select the file from the field you want to update - see the section on loading photos below

Some guidelines

  • SD Card users - Choose a location on an SD card. This avoids filling up the storage that Clarinspect uses.

  • SD Card users - Do NOT choose the root (top) folder of the SD card - create a 'Clarinspect' folder on the target SD card.

  • SD Card users - Don't select the root (top) Downloads folder - if you want to use this folder, create a 'Clarinspect' folder within it.

  • DO NOT select a folder inside the Android/data folder - this is managed by Android and access may disappear in a future Android release.

  • If you delete the selected folder the save function will stop working until you select another folder.

Troubleshooting

If Clarinspect encounters problems with copying the photo into the selected folder you will be notified.

There are several reasons why this might occur, however the easiest solution is simply to reselect it from the settings

.

  1. Switch off to clear the current location

  2. Then tap and reselect it

You can choose to automatically save photos from the app to your phone's camera roll as they're taken. This removes the need to save each photo manually and could be especially useful for many of our engineering and property teams who regularly capture photos on site.

To save all photos automatically to the camera roll;

  1. Go to apps in iOS settings

  1. Allow full access to photos

  1. Turn on copy to camera roll in Clarinspect settings

After these settings are updated, when you take photos in Clarinspect, they will be saved into your camera roll, and tucked into a folder named after the Work Package.
